Sheffield deserves a city government that doesn’t just respond — it listens, acts, and keeps you in the loop.
That’s why, as part of my commitment to modernize city operations, I plan to launch a Resident Issue Tracker — a simple, mobile-friendly platform that empowers Sheffield residents to report problems, track progress, and see real results in real time.
🛠️ How It Works
If you see a problem — a broken streetlight, a pothole, illegal dumping, or any other public concern — you’ll be able to:
-
Open the Issue Tracker on the city website
-
Pin the exact location of the issue on a map
-
Add photos and a description
-
Submit — that’s it.
Your submission will generate a case number, and you’ll receive an instant confirmation by email (and optionally by text).
Behind the scenes, the issue is automatically routed to the correct city department. A manager assigns the issue to a city worker, and both you and the worker are notified. As the work progresses, updates are added — including photos and resolution notes — and you’re kept informed every step of the way.
When it’s resolved, you’ll get a final update. No more wondering if your report disappeared into a black hole.
🔍 Transparent by Design
Every issue, from start to finish, will appear on a public-facing dashboard organized in a clear, easy-to-follow format:
- Received
- Assigned
- In Progress
- Resolved
This is more than just software. It’s a new standard of accountability, communication, and respect for the residents of Sheffield.
⚙️ Built for the Future
To ensure long-term success, this system is being built using widely-used, low-maintenance tools like WordPress, Trello, and Zapier — so it can be easily managed by city staff, even years from now.
It’s not just about fixing potholes. It’s about building trust — one issue, one update, and one resolved case at a time.
Because you deserve a city that works as hard as you do.
